I have over 45 years experience of working with dogs, which began with training my own retrievers and security dogs through my work as a game-keeper, and I soon began to help others involved in country sports with their dogs.
My experience began at 18 years old while working as under-keeper to Jimmy Johnson on the Littlewoods Pools shoot in Lancashire, where I helped to train gun-dogs. These dogs included Field Trial and Show Champions Renacre Twister, Spudtamson Shona, and Renacre Mallardurn Thunder, names that are still familiar to gundog enthusiasts. I have continued to train my own dogs and help other people with theirs throughout my career as a gamekeeper in Lancashire and Anglesey.
When my game keeping duties became part-time, I was able to devote more time to training, which then led to giving demonstrations and exhibitions of obedience and security work at country fairs and shows.
Over time, my training techniques and skill have become so in demand that I now run group classes on Sundays and Wednesdays, and one-to-one training sessions most days of the week.
